It is with deep regret that we announce the death of Alice Ball, the first woman to hold the position of ABS General Secretary of the National Division, one of three chief posts of the American Bible Society at that time. Starting in 1955 Alice Ball served the American Bible Society in various capacities and roles until her retirement in December of 1988. Her leadership and diligence helped to establish landmark programming for the American Bible Society and United Bible Societies. She was a dedicated member of Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church until her passing on January 21st. Her life marks a monumental time in our history and will be prayerfully remembered by the American Bible Society.
