Rojo and the American Bible Society Team Up For National Program
New York, NY,
August 20, 2009
NEW YORK, Aug. 20, 2009 - Christian rock band Rojo will be the 2009 spokesperson for the national Bible reading project, “The Bible is my Guide”. The project is an effort of the American Bible Society to motivate the Latino community to engage with the Word of God. Rojo will promote the project’s theme “Music is our expression. The Bible our guide.” A song was penned exclusively for the “Bible is my Guide” project by Rojo called, “Tu Palabra es mi Guía“ (Your Word is my Guide). The song is currently available for free download at rojo.americanbible.org.
A personalized Scripture journey invitation will be offered via text message to cell phone toting fans during Rojo’s “Apasionado Por Ti” (Passionate for You) concert tour. Additionally, Rojo has partnered with the American Bible Society to publish a custom New Testament in support of the project. The Bible borrows the title of their Grammy nominated album “24/7” and includes devotions written by Rojo. In select cities, seminars will be conducted by Rojo encouraging participants to allow the Bible to be their guide.
Rojo is the third musical artist to sign on for the “The Bible is My Guide” project. Kicked off in April 2007 by New York Yankee Mariano Rivera, the project has also tapped celebrities such as Grammy winner Juan Luis Guerra and New York Yankee Bernie Williams.
“Through our partnership with ABS, we are hoping to ignite a fire in youth for Bible reading. We both want to ensure that our youth experience its life-changing message,“ said Espinosa.
ABS program director Karina Lucero adds, “We knew Rojo’s enthusiasm for the campaign would be unmatched. After concert lights and cell phone glows burn out, Rojo’s fans will be inspired to deeply engage with God’s Word.”
In addition to the American Bible Society, Rojo has also partnered with a number of Bible Societies across the globe to promote the Bible is my Guide program throughout Latin America.
