American Bible Society announces appointment of new president
Dr. Roy Peterson joins American Bible Society as president and CEO after 10 years of serving as president and CEO of The Seed Company, a Bible translation ministry based in Arlington, Texas. Prior to joining the Seed Company, Peterson held several leadership positions at Wycliffe, including president and CEO of Wycliffe USA from 1997 to 2003. He spent eight years in Ecuador and Guatemala serving in leadership positions with Wycliffe organizations.
Peterson’s years of experience serving in the world of Bible translation and distribution have given him a unique perspective and love for advocating for the Bible.
“We are thrilled to welcome Roy Peterson to American Bible Society,” said Chairman of the Board Pieter Dearolf. “Roy’s decades-long leadership in Bible translation and depth of experience in management make him a great fit to lead American Bible Society into our third century of ministry.”
Peterson has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Roger Williams University and a Master of Arts in Social Science/Leadership Studies from Azusa Pacific University. He was awarded an honorary doctorate from Taylor University in honor of his outstanding work in the realm of Bible translation, and he recently completed the Executive Program for Non-Profit Leaders at Stanford. Roy and his wife, Rita have three children and three grandchildren.
“American Bible Society’s history and influence in the world of all-things Bible cannot be overstated,” said Peterson. “I am looking forward to joining this dynamic organization, especially within this historic moment for Bible mission.”
