Meet Our Staff
John Colligan:"As a 35-year employee of the Bible Society, I've enjoyed the daily interaction with people: with customers, about our varied Scripture products; in supervising staff, as we work together and form close bonds; with my wife, Dorothea, whom I met at the Bible Society and married some 30 years ago.
"In 1991, when I was asked to manage the entire building, and later, in 1995, leading the Bible House renovation, I was always reminded that the facility's operations relied on people: staff, engineers, security guards, housekeeping personnel, construction workers, visitors and tenants. Even as I oversee Bible House's status as a good neighbor in the Columbus Circle area, I constantly meet with the local people: Lincoln Square Business Improvement District members, Neighborhood Center, Community Board and synagogue representatives, local police, among others.
"As you can see, for me, it has always been about the people."
Melinda Trine:"I like working at the American Bible Society because of the middle word in our name, Bible — God's message to us of faith, hope, love, comfort, peace, redemption and so much more. The Bible is what we are about here. It is a joy to work so that others in this nation and around the world may read (if they are literate), hear (if they are not fully literate) or touch (if they are visually impaired) this precious life-transforming text.
"The Lord needs neither me nor the American Bible Society to accomplish his purpose — sharing the Good News; but he allows us the wonderful privilege of serving him in this endeavor."
Drew Segawa:"Five months after 9-11, I moved to New York City as a missionary to plant a church. I didn't have much except for God's call upon my heart, faith and my Bible.
"Many times, the Lord has taught me to trust my very life with the promises found in his Word, and he has never let me down!
"With this same passion for God's Word, it is an honor for me to be able to grant his Word freely to correctional facilities. I still can't believe that the Lord Jesus would allow me to bless others this way!"
