  • Recognition: The recognition provided to each grant can be "acknowledged" to you, to another person, to your Fund Name or with anonymity.
  • Focus: Each gift from your Fund can reflect your specific passions. Grants may be made to a wide range of Christian charities with the American Bible Society providing review to clarify the clear charitable purposes and impact for each project (Further details of gift giving from your Fund found in Program Description for this Fund).

DISCLOSURE

The American Bible Society Donor Advised Fund operates within the scope of the rules established by the Pension and Protection Act.  Assets transferred to the Fund are irrevocable gifts to the American Bible Society.  Each Donor Fund conforms to the following guidelines:

  1. The fund is held in a separate account that is identified by reference to contributions of a donor or donors.
  2. The account is owned and controlled by a public charity.
  3. A donor (or someone appointed by a donor) has or reasonably expects to have advisory privileges with respect to the fund by reason of their status as a donor.

Any United States-based agency that is a recognized 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code may receive a grant from the Fund. However, the Fund has been established to support the broad mission of the American Bible Society (the Society) which is to make the Bible available to every person in a language and format each can understand and afford, so that all people may experience its life-changing message.  The grant requests will be reviewed and approved by the Grant Review Committee of the Fund. However, the Fund will provide a list of approved charities and institutions that meet our approved criteria.  In addition, the Fund will provide a set of criteria under which grants would be declined, such as grants to organizations openly antithetical to Christian beliefs. Grants cannot be awarded to individuals, including scholarships to individuals. Donors and any related individual may not receive tangible benefits from a grant. These include items such as meals, concert tickets, tuition, or museum membership benefits.
