Exclusive First Look: Mother Mary from ‘The Bible’ Miniseries
We have an exclusive first look at Mother Mary from The Bible, a ten part miniseries acting out the Bible.
The Bible, a ten-hour miniseries, debuts on The History Channel on March 3. Producer Mark Burnett (The Voice, Survivor, The Apprentice and Shark Tank) explains that his goal was to breathe fresh visual life into the narrative of the Bible. Throughout the project Burnett and wife Roma Downey (Touched by an Angel) consulted with a team of 40 biblical scholars, theologians and other experts to check for script accuracy. American Bible Society (ABS) was an early collaborator on the project and is now part of the advisory council. ABS is also featuring scenes from the miniseries as part of an interactive display in the atrium of their headquarters building in New York.
Christian Media Sites Unite For THE BIBLE
Several of the biggest Christian media outlets will premiere character art from the upcoming mini-series.
For Immediate Release – Christian media outlets are teaming up in an unprecedented partnership Friday to offer a first glimpse of the most iconic characters from the upcoming television mini-series THE BIBLE. Each Web site will become a “destination” by debuting an exclusive poster depicting a famous biblical figure, then will link to a companion site to create a “road” that will eventually lead to THE BIBLE’s own Facebook page, where the final poster of Jesus will be hosted.
The websites participating in Friday’s “roadblock” include: American Bible Society, Beliefnet, Christian Cinema, Christian Post, Crosswalk, Hollywood Jesus, Jesus Daily, and Patheos. “This roadblock is a wonderful opportunity for Christian sites to be supportive of a project that treats The Bible with the reverence and respect that it deserves,” said Greg Wright, editor of Hollywood Jesus. “And these images – they really capture the power and majesty of the series. This is the Bible as it’s never been seen before.”
THE BIBLE, premiering March on THE HISTORY CHANNEL, includes stories from Genesis to Revelation. It is being brought to television by the producing team of Roma Downey (Touched By An Angel) and Mark Burnett (The Voice, Survivor, Celebrity Apprentice).
“The Bible is such a remarkable and inspirational book,” they said, “that we believed it deserved to be presented in a fresh way through powerful and moving filmmaking.”
