Rob Smith, Director of Planned Gifts, has worked for American Bible Society since April 1998. He has also served as our National Field Supervisor and Regional Director. Rob Smith, Director of Planned Gifts, has worked for American Bible Society since April 1998. He has also served as our National Field Supervisor and Regional Director. As the National Field Supervisor, Rob led the planned giving field staff for five successful years before being promoted to Director of Planned Gifts. Previous to his time at American Bible Society, Rob worked in similar positions with The Salvation Army and the University of Missouri. After college, Rob gained experience as a financial planner and worked in real estate and other areas of business. Rob was raised on a farm in Southern Missouri. He is married with three grown children and two grandchildren.

Dan Leeman, a Regional Advisor for American Bible Society, serves financial partners in 14 states. He specializes in charitable estate planning and planned giving. Dan's office is based near St. Louis, Missouri. He is a licensed attorney, with a 40+ year career that includes 8 years with American Bible Society, 15 years with Lutheran Church Missouri Synod International headquarters in St. Louis, 12 years with Boy Scouts of America’s National Office in Dallas, and 5 years in development consulting. Dan and his wife Jeanie have three adult children. They are members of Concordia Lutheran Church in Kirkwood, Missouri. Dan volunteers for his church, the Greater St. Louis Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and Family Shield Ministries.

Dan Dorrill joined American Bible Society in 2007 as a Regional Director in Gift Planning, with experience in both the private sector and the non-profit arena. His ministry focus is helping financial partners find creative ways of supporting ministry through legacy giving, which includes assets other than cash, estate planning, comprehensive gift planning, wills, trusts, and other charitable-giving vehicles. Prior to joining American Bible Society, Dan spent more than 20 years as an insurance and estate planning professional, working with highly affluent clients and business owners. He also served as vice president of development for an international organization in the Atlanta area. He has held volunteer and board positions with a Christian college, his church, and other charitable organizations. Dan is a CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter), receiving his designation from The American College of Financial Services, Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, in 1991. He is a past president of the American Society of CLUs/ChFCs, Chattanooga chapter, and a past president of the Estate Planning Council of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He received his bachelor of arts degree from North Texas State University in 1986, where he majored in jazz studies and sociology. In his spare time, Dan is a performing jazz musician. He and his family enjoy living in the mountains of Southeast Tennessee and spending time with their horses.

The Rev. James Fogal is a Regional Advisor, working with our financial partners in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. He has worked with charitable organizations since 1994 and been a charitable planner since 1998. His focus is to help financial partners meet their estate, financial, and tax planning needs utilizing philanthropic tools. He is a long-time member of the Financial Planning Association and Kingdom Advisors and has served on the board of directors of two estate planning councils. James is a Certified Kingdom Advisor® and is a graduate of the National Planned Giving Institute at the College of William and Mary. He previously served as the director of financial planning education at Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in biblical and classical languages from Asbury University, a master of arts degree in philanthropic studies from Indiana University, and a master of arts in theological studies and a master of divinity degree in chaplaincy from the School of Divinity at Liberty University. He is an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene and serves as a volunteer chaplain with the Alabama Wing of the Civil Air Patrol (with the rank of Major). James lives in Auburn, Alabama, with his wife of 25 years and two sons.

The Rev. Thomas J. Trageser serves as a Gift Planning and Innovative Partnership Advisor for American Bible Society. He is also developing innovative ways to create new streams of ministry revenue. Tom recently was the Director of Corporate and Government Relations at Stetson University. He was invited to join the college’s development team to build a new corporate and government relations area. Within this program, Tom’s two primary responsibilities were to identify and secure new streams of revenue and to coordinate the campus-wide conversation with corporations and government entities. While Tom was only at Stetson for 17 months, he’s a 22-year veteran of planned and major giving in the non-profit development world. Earlier in his career, Tom was the senior church development liaison/regional development director for American Bible Society in New York City and director of development for planned and major giving at Simpson University in Northern California. For 35 years, Tom has continually volunteered and served as a church planter. He received his formal training at the National Planned Giving Institute at the College of William and Mary. Tom is also a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach and an ASC™ EYS Faith Performance Coach. He holds a theology degree from Toccoa Falls College. Tom and Lora Lee, his wife of 30 years, have a son, Ross, and a daughter, Morgan. They live in Port Orange, Florida.

Tom joined American Bible Society as a Regional Advisor in March 2018, serving our financial partners in the West. Tom specializes in planned giving, such as wills and bequests, trusts, and other charitable gift planning tools. A graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, California, he has worked in property management, marketing/relationship management, and as a regional manager in donor relations and gift planning with Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. He is a member of the Association of Fund-Raising Professionals and National Association of Gift Planners. At his church, Centerpoint Community Church, he serves as head usher. He also serves as an elder on the finance committee. His wife Sue is a middle school teacher. They have three grown children.
