American Bible Society has been engaging people with God’s Word for nearly 200 years. Our mission is to make the Bible available to every person in a language and format each can understand and afford, so that all people may experience its life-changing message.
We approach our mission in three ways:
We deliver God’s Word to hard-to-reach places, bringing hope across barriers of geography, translation, oppression and injustice. Accelerated by new tools, translation and technology, we are committed to eradicating Bible poverty in all of its forms.
We bring the life-changing hope of God's Word to help heal the hearts and build the new faith of survivors of trauma and injustice across the globe. Embedded within the work of today's best physical and community relief efforts, we bring the healing power of God's Word to victims of war and atrocity, young mothers and orphans, and America's impoverished youth.
We introduce God's Word to cultural channels where the Bible lacks a strong voice and extend new reach within today's leading churches, inviting millions to reconsider and renew their engagement with God's Word.
Four core values define the culture at American Bible Society:
“Love each other as brothers and sisters and honor others more than you do yourself.” Romans 12.10 (CEV)
“The Lord God has told us what is right and what he demands: ‘See that justice is done, let mercy be your first concern, and humbly obey your God.’ ”Micah 6.8 (CEV)
“I want all of them to be one with each other, just as I am one with you and you are one with me.” John 17.21a (CEV)
“You, Lord God, are my mighty rock and my fortress. Lead me and guide me, so that your name will be honored.” Psalm 31.3 (CEV)
“Anyone who can be trusted in little matters can also be trusted in important matters.” Luke 16.10a (CEV)
