Sofia* is well acquainted with grief, hardship, and, sadly, abuse.
After the loss of premature twins, Sofia’s husband blamed her for their deaths. He began to drink alcohol more heavily and became increasingly abusive. Sofia tried to find comfort at church, but her husband rarely allowed her to attend services.
Poverty is also common in the rural, mountainous region of Guatemala, where Sofia lives. She didn’t have any hope of her situation changing.
When the End-to-End outreach began showing the JESUS Film nearby, a neighbor invited Sofia and her daughter to go see it with her.
They were deeply impacted by the message. Sofia says, “I felt like I needed to give my life to Jesus.” After watching the film, Sofia and her daughter both accepted Jesus as their Savior!
“We cried when we watched the movie,” Sofia shares. “Now, we know that God is with us, and our lives are different.”
Thanks to the support of generous partners like you, Sofia also received her first Bible in her heart language.
“Thank you for this Bible. I couldn’t afford it. I’m a new person now,” Sofia shares. She believes the Bible will help her teach her daughter as she grows up. She also hopes it will give her the wisdom to speak to her husband about the Lord, as she says, “So he can have joy and stop drinking.”
