What’s the State of the Bible in America?
For 15 years, American Bible Society has reported on the State of the Bible by investigating Americans’ relationship with God, faith, and the Bible. The data for 2025 is in and the first chapter will be released on April 10! We’ll share a new chapter each month after that. In this year’s report, we will highlight key trends using our years of data and explore important contemporary questions like:
- What is the current level of Bible use in the United States and how does this compare to previous years?
- What are the favored formats for interacting with the Bible? Print, digital, or audio?
- What role does social media have in interaction with the Bible?
- How does Scripture engagement in the United States compare to other countries of the world?
- Do people trust the Bible? What about other institutions? Do they trust the people with whom they interact?
- At what level do people feel engaged to the ministries of their churches? How does church engagement relate to Scripture engagement and well-being?
- Does Scripture engagement impact a young person’s sense of purpose and direction and lead to a sense of identity?
- What impact does Scripture engagement have on stress, hope, and overall human flourishing?
- How does Scripture engagement relate to helping others and practicing generosity?
In addition to releasing a new chapter each month, we’ll feature interviews with thought leaders whose insights will take readers beyond the data. We hope State of the Bible provides direction and encouragement for you and the people you serve.
