Introduction

Psalm 131: Today’s reading is a short psalm that reflects quiet trust and confidence in God.

Today’s Key Verse: Psalm 131:3b

Trust in the LORD, now and forever!

Reading

Lord, I have given up my pride
and turned away from my arrogance.
I am not concerned with great matters
or with subjects too difficult for me.
Instead, I am content and at peace.
As a child lies quietly in its mother’s arms,
so my heart is quiet within me.
Israel, trust in the Lord
now and forever.

Reflect

How is humility reflected in this psalm? What do you think is the source of the writer’s peace (verse 2)? In what ways do you experience God’s peace?

Pray

Lord God, you are faithful and I place my trust in you. In the midst of life’s challenges, I know that you are always near and that in you I can find hope and peace. Amen.
