Quarantine, illness, anxiety, and isolation are causing deep suffering around the world. Yet in the midst of this difficult time, we know that God is near to those who are crushed in spirit and longs to heal their wounded hearts. Psalm 23:3 reminds us that, “he restores my soul.”
God wants to restore peace and hope to hearts devastated by the COVID-19 pandemic. And he’s using the church to bring his love and care to those who desperately need it.
Bible-Based Trauma Healing Ministry
As we watch our neighbors grapple with feelings of loss, helplessness, fear, and anger, many churches and ministries are responding with Bible-based trauma healing ministry. Trauma healing ministry provides training, resources, and support to help the church respond to trauma in their communities. Using a Bible-based model, these trained leaders lead small groups designed to help victims heal from their trauma and focus on God’s love for them.
Biblical resources have been created to specifically help people heal from the effects of the coronavirus. Here are three free COVID-19 crisis materials:
- Beyond Disaster. A survivor’s booklet for people who have survived disasters. This Bible-based booklet offers strategies for coping in the short term and practical steps for the journey toward emotional and spiritual healing.
- Healing from the Distress of the COVID-19 Crisis. A lesson for small groups to help you begin to heal from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
- Peace, Be Still: A kid’s guide to living in crazy days. This six-part resource will help your children ages 8-12 feel safe during this time of uncertainty and change.
So far, healing groups with these materials have taken place in Ecuador, Guatemala, Puerto Rico, Niger, Uganda, California, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, and more! We are praying that the healing power of Scripture will continue to spread around the world, bringing comfort and hope to those who need it. Will you join us?
Let’s Pray Together
God, thank you for your nearness and love in the midst of difficult circumstances. We pray for spiritual and emotional healing for those who are suffering as a result of this global pandemic. We also pray that many churches will be able to offer spiritual aid to those hurting in their communities through the trauma healing ministry.
