Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10 NKJV
Because God promises to be with us, we can rest in his presence and strength and resist the temptation to fear.
Worry. It’s a heavy burden that many people feel they must carry alone. Do you have more bills than paycheck? Are the kids struggling? Is someone you love facing a medical challenge? You’re not alone. The American Psychological Association says the top sources of stress in the U.S. include money, work, the economy, family responsibilities, relationships, family health problems and personal health concerns. The good news is that Jesus clearly recognizes that your life is full of trouble and strife. Yet, despite the earthly worries you carry, God’s Word and promise of salvation can provide encouragement and hope.
In Scripture, Jesus talks about worldly struggles and the saving power of faith:
- Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. – Matthew 6:34 (NKJV)
- These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. – John 16:33 (NKJV)
- Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. – Matthew 11:28 (NKJV)
- Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. – John 14:27 (NKJV)
- Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. – Luke 12:23 (NKJV)
You can lean into Scripture today, trust God to keep his promises, and know that He is in control no matter what life brings your way!
