Today in the United States, many people suffer the effects of trauma as a result of experiencing or witnessing intense wounds to the body, mind and soul. Whether the trauma is caused by domestic violence, sexual abuse, human trafficking, or addiction, it can leave people with deep heart wounds.
But God’s Word brings healing and hope.
Bible-based trauma healing uses an integration of God’s Word and mental health principles to equip suffering people to find healing in the pages of Scripture.
The program is based on a curriculum called Healing the Wounds of Trauma. Facilitators lead sessions designed to help traumatized people identify their pain, forgive their oppressors and bring their pain to the cross for healing.
This year, we’re actively engaging new partners to expand this outreach to jail and prison ministries and military veterans. We need your prayers for Bible-based trauma healing to bring God’s hope and joy to many wounded hearts in the U.S.
PRAY FOR:
- Trauma healing participants —Pray for prisoners, veterans, and other participants in this program to experience God’s healing power as they revisit the darkest parts of their stories and move toward forgiveness and restoration.
- Trauma healing facilitators – Ask God to empower them to bring spiritual healing through the Bible. Many are hearing difficult stories, so ask God to give them strength and peace.
- The Trauma Healing Team at American Bible Society – Ask God to give them wisdom as they respond to the ever-increasing requests to train more trauma healing facilitators. Please also pray for wisdom as the team begins to expand their work with new partners.
