The Bible Society of Brazil (BSB) is commemorating an unprecedented accomplishment: in 2009, the BSB surpassed its record by 5.7 percent—it distributed 6 million Bibles in Brazil and across the globe. Rudi Zimmer, general secretary of BSB, said, ”As we were coming to the end of 2009, people at several locations in Brazil suffered losses through flooding caused by heavy rains; some people even lost their lives. As the New Year started and we were finishing our statistics . . . we were shocked with the tragedy in Haiti. These experiences underline even more the importance of getting the Word of God to the people.”
