“Our world stands at the edge of a tremendous conflict. The time to ensure that Bibles are available is now.” These words from Armed Forces Chaplain Ray Johnson* remind us how crucial our mission is to place God’s Word into the hands and hearts of our Troops.

Chaplain Johnson knows what life is like on the frontlines of conflict. He’s served with Marines, Sailors, Soldiers, and even Special Forces in some of the world’s most difficult places. He has been there . . .standing beside them during lonely watches on forward-deployed warships in dangerous waters . . . feeling the blazing heat of the noonday sun on grueling missions on the hot sands of Iraq. He sees the sacrifices our Troops are called on to make and admits sadly, “I have sent Americans home in body bags.”

With tremendous gratitude for the role friends like you take in this mission, Chaplain Johnson says, “You all have been the wind beneath my wings. American Bible Society has been a force multiplier.”

He continues, “I believe I am going to see people in Heaven, face to face with Jesus,  because of American Bible Society and the gift of God’s Word. We Chaplains are like sacred couriers. But it’s impossible to measure the mission-multiplying impact of your gifts.”

When you place Scripture into the hands of the brave men and women of our Armed

Forces, you give them a priceless gift — especially now, as conflicts continue to escalate around the world.
