In 1943, Eugene Nida joined the staff of American Bible Society, serving as a linguist. He has been a pioneer in translation theory. The Eugene A. Nida Institute for Biblical Scholarship, a ministry of ABS, continues his legacy.
American Bible Society's Nida School of Translation Studies, held in June in Murcia, Spain, focused on “Translation and Cognition,” gathering 75 leaders in the field of translation today.
