This spring, American Bible Society and Barna Group released results from their 2015 State of the Bible survey. The annual survey takes the pulse of American beliefs and behaviors surrounding the Bible. This year’s survey reveals the disparity between Americans’ understanding of Scripture availability and the reality of Bible access around the world.

According to the survey, 98 percent of Americans support the freedom to own and read the Bible. But 7 out of 10 people have no idea that over 4,000 of the world’s languages still do not have a completed Bible translation. These statistics highlight the privilege of owning a Bible in America. They also demonstrate the importance of increased Bible translation work so that all nations can experience the transformative power of God’s Word.
