Daily life is hard for many people living in the small nation of Macedonia, where nearly a third of the population lives in poverty, and more than a quarter are unemployed. Many people in this country lack access to basic necessities, such as food, healthcare, and education, making it difficult for them to thrive and escape poverty.
Like many people in Macedonia, Stefan* has faced many painful times in his life. The most devastating was when he suffered a debilitating head injury at age 18 after a car accident.
Thankfully, not long after this traumatic event, he received a Bible in his heart language, provided by faithful friends of American Bible Society.
As he recovered, he said, “Every time I had difficulties, I would just pray to God.”
Receiving a Bible in his heart language has transformed Stefan’s life. “This Bible helps me be a better person and be prepared to help other people to know and love God.”
“I did not understand the meaning of life until I received my Bible,” Stefan says. “Now I can read about what Jesus Christ did for us and what we need to do in our lives to reach Heaven.”
We are thankful for the generosity of our partners for helping Macedonians like Stefan have access to Scripture – the gift that impacts eternity.
