Decades of civil war have left South Sudan among the poorest countries in the world. For Tereza*, life became even harder after being forced into marriage as a teenager.
Now in her 30s, Tereza says, “I was hopeless. I lost my brother, who was the only hope for our family. My mom is now old, and there is no one other than me to take care of her.”

After receiving an audio Bible and attending the local Bible listening group, Tereza found hope and peace for the first time. She shares, “My life totally changed since I received the Bible. I am now a transformed person.”
As our ministry partner explained, “The gift of God’s written Word is treasured by those who can read,” but for those who cannot, “an audio Bible is worth more than its weight in gold.” Entire villages will gather to listen to the audio Bible in their heart language, demonstrating what Tereza refers to as “a great thirst in this country for the Word of God.”
