American Bible Society’s generous financial partners helped bring Bible-based trauma healing to suffering communities in Ecuador after a magnitude-7.8 earthquake struck on April 16, 2016. The deadly quake killed more than 600 people and injured 12,000. The ministry offered spiritual healing by combining the redemptive message of God’s Word with mental health best practices.
A Bible-based trauma healing participant named Jessica Michel was a Red Cross responder after the earthquake. “For me, trauma healing has been a huge blessing. Thank you for bringing this project to [Ecuador],” says Michel. “I know this is truly God’s ministry.”
