You helped provide the Wayuu people in Colombia with the first complete Bible translation in their language!
There are more than 68 recognized languages in Colombia, and the completion of the first Bible translation for the country’s largest indigenous community was truly a historic moment.
The Wayuu people make up nearly 20 percent of Colombia’s indigenous population. Thousands gathered in anticipation for the historic dedication ceremony, excited to read God’s Word in their heart language for the first time.
Bible Consultant and Pastor Cosme Vivas shared, “The Wayuunaiki language is not inferior to any major language because God speaks Wayuunaiki, too. He loves the Wayuu people and wants them to hear Him in their language.”
At a dedication ceremony, many in attendance shed tears as over 2,000 new Bibles bearing the title Nünüiki Maleiwa (Word of God) were distributed. The dedication took place on a Saturday, and by the next day, many Wayuu churches were using the new Wayuunaiki Bible for their services. More Bibles are scheduled to be distributed this year.
Thank you for your continued support and commitment to the mission to ensure that every person can access God’s Word in their heart language!
