I once heard, “Don’t let life happen to you. You should happen to life!” Many of us began the year with bold goals for spiritual, personal and professional growth. We got life planners, journaled our prayers, and grew in hope for new possibilities ahead. Proactive preparation helped us create targets, get our schedule in order, and begin to work toward the dreams God placed in our hearts.

It’s now July 1, marking halfway through the year. Perhaps your 2021 began like it did for many of us with audacious goals. This mid-year point invites us to pause, reflect, and reassess our priorities. And one of the most powerful ways we can refocus on what matters most is by spending dedicated time in Scripture and prayer!

Do you need inspiration to reset your focus on the Lord and his good purposes for your life? Beth Moore, an American evangelist, author and Bible teacher, recently shared, “Imagine how refreshing it would be to set all our agendas and divisions aside and just take 31 days to pray…. No conference. No Simulcast. No gimmick. Nothing but praying in the name of Jesus for the will of Jesus to be done.” As our American Bible Society prayer community, we warmly invite you to participate in this informal prayer reset; all you need is your Bible, journal, and pen!

Join us for 31-Days of Prayer

Will you join us in this month of prayer and Bible reading? One way to join is by signing up for American Bible Society’s Daily Bible Reading plan. By signing up, you will receive a daily Scripture reading, brief reflection, and prayer prompts to guide your devotional prayer and intercession for others. As you are able to join us, we pray God refreshes you in his Word. May God increase your faith to offer bold prayers and encourage you in refocusing on the good works he prepared for you this year. We joyfully anticipate the blessings of his nearness as Isaiah 55:6 reminds us, “Turn to the LORD and pray to him, now that he is near” (GNT).

Let’s Pray Together

Lord God, thank you for your faithfulness in every season. I rededicate my time, goals, and purpose to you this year. Talking with you in prayer and receiving your instruction through Scripture are my soul’s delight. I commit this month of prayer to you and ask your blessing that it may spark spiritual renewal and transformation in me, across our nation, and around the world. May we align with your good and perfect will, offering a pleasing aroma of prayer to you. Amen.
