Helping others heal from trauma without hurting them takes skill and knowledge. American Bible Society’s Bible-based Trauma Healing Ministry trains people to facilitate Healing Groups. Healing Groups are safe spaces for hurting people to process their wounds, express their pain, and reconnect with God and others.

Using the book Healing the Wounds of Trauma, facilitators who have been certified through the Trauma Healing Institute help people heal from trauma using biblical and mental health principles.

But the journey of healing doesn’t have to end there.

Strength from Weakness: Growing through Suffering

Since the ministry started in 2001, thousands of individuals around the world have participated in Healing Groups, explored their heart wounds, and experienced God’s presence and love amid their suffering. But a growing desire from facilitators to continue to help traumatized people on their journey of healing has inspired a new resource called, Strength from Weakness: Growing through Suffering. This resource is intended to be used as a second book in the Trauma Healing series. It helps people:

  • grow through their suffering and become more resilient, so they are better prepared to face suffering in the future;
  • explore more layers of their trauma and pain, and experience deeper layers of healing;
  • gain skills to connect with others in healthier ways so that the underlying causes of trauma are addressed, and a strong, vibrant community is (re-)established; and
  • find and fulfill their purpose in life.

We pray that this new resource will guide facilitators as they listen, support, and walk alongside people looking to rebuild their lives following trauma. We also invite you to join us as we pray for people around the world to experience the healing power of God’s Word through the Trauma Healing Ministry.

Let’s Pray Together

Father, thank you for using the Trauma Healing Ministry to heal and comfort thousands of traumatized people. We pray that more people will be trained as facilitators and that the resources will help meet the needs of Healing Groups. Finally, we pray that every hurting person will encounter your peace and be healed of their trauma in Jesus’s name. Amen.
