For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

Romans 1:16-17 NKJV

If we have faith in Christ, we should never be ashamed of his gospel, because the power of God leads people to salvation.

Often, despite faith in God, we humans tend to worry – we worry about finances, relationships, the future; yet God, in his infinite knowledge, knows each need before we ask (Matthew 6:8). If we have full faith in God’s authority and power, worry is simply a waste of time. We can trust that if God has the power to offer us eternal salvation, he also has the power and the resources to provide for every need we have.

When you’re tempted to worry, remember what Jesus taught in his sermon on the mount. He told us to consider how nature is cared for, and how he cares much more for us. He knows our needs and, if we seek his kingdom and righteousness in faith, all our needs would be met (Matthew 6:25-34). You can rest today, knowing Christ’s power is more than sufficient for you.

In his letter to the Romans, the apostle Paul expresses his confidence in the gospel, which is “God’s power to save all who believe” (verse 16), assuring them that “the just shall live by faith.” This means that those who believe in Christ not only receive eternal life through faith, but they also get to fully live in faith. To live a life full of joy amid difficulty (John 10:10), full of peace that passes understanding (Philippians 4:7), full of forgiveness for their sin (Romans 6:23), and full of hope and strength (Isaiah 40:31). Remember today that your faith in Christ allows you to live in freedom from fear and anxiety and fully rely on him.
