We need to pray for our nation. First, because God’s Word urges us to do so (1 Timothy 2:1-2) and second, because praying for our nation can bring healing. Many nations are hurting and are in deep need of God’s healing. They need God’s intervention to restore broken systems, communities, and lives devastated by the darkness of sin. The Bible says in 2 Chronicles 7:14 (CEV), “If my own people will humbly pray and turn back to me and stop sinning, then I will answer them from heaven. I will forgive them and make their land fertile once again.” Our prayers invite God to forgive our sin and heal our land.
