Kim didn’t feel close to God anymore. But she thought she was OK. She was alone, yes, but she felt she could handle everything on her own. And then her life fell apart.
Her heart was broken through the pain of divorce. Twice.
After all that, she was left with seven children to take care of—all on her own. Then her son with special needs had to be moved to a group home. And she discovered that two of her children fell prey to drug addiction. It was too much for Kim to handle by herself.
Financial worries plagued her, too. She fell behind on her real estate taxes and struggled to make ends meet.
Kim slept fitfully. Nightmares startled her awake. “Waves of panic would come over me,” she shares.
Never Alone
It’s then—in the middle of the night when sleep eluded her—that her heart cried out to the Lord: “God, there is no one else I can turn to,” she prayed. “I am so utterly alone.”
That’s when things started to change for Kim. It’s not that she suddenly found money and her kids were healthy again. She still felt pain and sadness. But she found God that night, and she knew she wasn’t alone.
Day after day, she turned to God’s Word for hope and help.
Now, when she faces life’s struggles, she opens her Bible and hears the words of love and strength her God has for her. Here are the verses that helped her through the hardest time in her life. Take a moment to settle into a comfortable chair, breathe deeply, and read through these verses of assurance and hope from your Savior:
2 Corinthians 4:18
Things that are seen don’t last forever, but things that are not seen are eternal.
Romans 8:31
If God is on our side, can anyone be against us?
John 14:13
Ask me, and I will do whatever you ask. This way, the Son will bring honor to the Father.
Psalm 34:17
When his people pray for help, he listens and rescues them from their troubles.
