Seeing Dijana’s* warm smile as she holds her children’s Bible makes it hard to imagine the difficulties she faces growing up in southern Serbia.
Poverty and discrimination create overwhelming barriers for Roma children, causing many to grow up with poor health, poor education, and even illiteracy.
But through our partners compassionate support, they are helping place children’s Bibles into the hands and hearts of boys and girls like Dijana and Jovan*. Written in their heart language, these children’s Bibles help them learn to read as they discover the joy of knowing Jesus!
Dijana is 10 years old and loves reading her Bible every day. “I became a better student because I realized that Jesus is with me, and He helps me to be great in everything I do,” she beams. Dijana’s behavior has improved so much, and she has influenced her friends to attend the children’s Bible classes with her.
Nine-year-old Jovan was excited to share, “Because of the Bible, I realize that God loves me a lot . . . The most exciting thing for me is when I read how Jesus speaks Romani language.” Jovan’s behavior has also changed. With a slight grin, he admits, “The Bible teaches me not to lie to my parents even when I get a bad grade on a math test.”
Thank to our partners for helping to make an eternal difference in the lives of children in Serbia, as well as children in Africa, the Middle East, Asia, South America, the United States, and beyond! The children’s Bibles provided are introducing children all over the world to the love of Jesus.
