Bible Societies throughout the Caribbean are hosting workshops on domestic violence at local churches. These workshops equip local pastors to provide Bible-based counseling for victims and perpetrators of domestic violence. The program is expected to reach more than 150,000 people in 2015.

Domestic violence has risen significantly in the Caribbean in recent years. While socio-economic and cultural pressures often compel women to accept abusive situations, a study in Eastern Caribbean shows that local churches are among the first places victims turn when they do reach out for help. Through education materials funded by American Bible Society’s financial partners, wounded families experience healing by embracing self-esteem and human dignity through the truth of God’s Word.
