Cherita* remembers the moment that changed her life — the moment she first heard God’s Word in her heart language.
She wasn’t able to read very well, though she was trying to learn. The audio Bible allowed her to more fully understand and engage with God’s Word.
“I was amazed when I heard the Bible and I believed in the Word of God,” she says. “That is why I decided to give myself completely to the Lord.”
“My husband and I used to quarrel every day,” Cherita continues. “We were suffering, but now God has changed our lives.”
Cherita’s husband has also been changed by listening to the audio Bible in their heart language. And they are just two of the people whose lives are being transformed by Scripture, thanks to American Bible Society financial partners.
These faithful friends are sharing the message of the Bible with people in Togo, and all over West Africa, in the ways they are best able to hear it and understand.
This effort is more important than ever for the people of Togo, especially as the effects of the pandemic on their economy continue. They face skyrocketing unemployment rates, growing poverty, increased violence, and gang activity.
Only Scripture can show them how to overcome these challenges and transform their communities, and we are grateful to our partners for continuing to share the hope of God’s Word in Africa and beyond.
