In the Summer issue, you read the story of Abby Jenkins, a Tualatin, Ore., first-grader who felt led to give Bibles to Egyptian street children. To purchase them, Abby sold bracelets and raised $630 — enough to buy 126 Bibles. Now her dream has come true. Check out this report from the Bible Society of Egypt:

“When American Bible Society sent word of Abby's gift, we immediately thought of children in a small Garbage Village of about 400 families. The village has no school, medical care or markets. We chose a Bible that has big, colorful pictures that help the child understand the short text — a special gift in a difficult context.

“Mumtaz from the Bible Society told the children about Abby's story and her faith and hard work in raising money for their Bibles. He used this story to remind them how valuable they are to God and that God can hear our prayers no matter the distance.

“We pray that these Bibles from Abby and her supporters will comfort and encourage these young children in the Garbage Village. We pray that seeds of faith will be planted and nourished through this precious gift and that these children will grow up living out true, Christian principles of love and forgiveness even in the face of difficulties or injustice.”
