After high school graduation, Emily* enlisted in the National Guard looking to serve her country and gain direction in her life. While she was raised in a Christian household, by her teenage years she’d shunned Christianity.
During basic training, Emily’s mother said, “She was so alone and so afraid and missing her family.”
Emily attended a church service, where she picked up a Bible provided by American Bible Society financial partners. This special military Bible includes a Bible study just for our Troops. Emily completed the 75-day Military Bible Challenge, and it has changed her life.
“Our daughter has rededicated her life to serving the Lord Jesus, and we are elated,” her mom says. “Thank God that the resource of American Bible Society was there to fill a need.”
Bailey*, who serves in the Navy, also received a special military Bible during basic training and completed the Military Bible Challenge. “I have gotten stronger in my faith and have started praying and going to chapel,” Bailey says. “This challenge changed my life.”
In addition to Service Members like Emily and Bailey, God’s Word also provides Veterans comfort, peace, and healing. One VA hospital chaplain shares, “God is using His Word to touch the lives of Veterans so they can experience His calming power as they face their daily storms associated with aging, loneliness, and declining health.”
Our partners help connect brave American military members and Veterans with God’s Word through their ongoing support, and we are grateful.
