Many Christian migrant workers in Qatar, a region in the Arabian Gulf, lost their jobs during the coronavirus pandemic. These hard-working laborers found themselves without any income and were beginning to feel hopeless.

Thankfully, through the support of with friends like you, American Bible Society was able to provide them the hope and comfort of Scripture when they needed it most — and in their heart languages.

James Christopher, a Bible Society representative, says, “Over the past few months, we were able to distribute New Testaments to physically and spiritually exhausted Hindi, Nepali, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam speakers.”

The Scriptures our generous partners provide make a difference.

“During the pandemic, many laborers lost their jobs, and many were very financially unstable and needed support. Everyone needed the Word of God to help them through these difficult times,” says one worker named Adara*. “I always carry with me the New Testament I received from the Bible Society because I read it whenever I am feeling down. Also, I read it with others who are helpless and hopeless. Thank you for thinking about us in Qatar. Life away from home has many challenges and it is not easy. But God is good. He looks out for us.”

One pastor says, “Our members would be lost or dead if it were not for the life-changing power of the Scriptures you placed in their lives.”

Resident Maryam* shares, “I was sad, depressed, and on the verge of a breakdown when Brother James gave me a copy of the New Testament in my language — Hindi. Every day I am learning new things about Jesus Christ by reading from my holy book. Thank you for bringing hope back into my life.”

The continued support of our caring financial partners will bless migrant workers in Qatar with the hope that can only be found in God’s Word.
