As a young boy, Ajani* was injured during a hurricane and lost his sight. Though he had attended a traditional religious school in his village before the accident, there were no teachers for blind people. Ethiopia is one of the poorest countries in the world, and Ajani believed his only option was to move into the city and beg on the streets. It was a dangerous choice.

Over time, anything Ajani thought he knew about God turned to bitterness and hopelessness. “I used to curse when things went wrong . . . curse people to be as blind as me,” he recalls. “In the past, I cried and cried. I started looking for another belief.”

But thanks to caring people like our partners, Ajani received another chance to learn about Jesus — in the form of an audio Bible! Ajani was so grateful for the life-changing gift. “After listening to God’s Word, my attitude changed dramatically,” he shares. “God has done a wonderful thing in my life!”

Our partners generous support is providing the Bible to thousands of people like Ajani — men, women, and children who are blind, visually impaired, or unable to read — in some of the world’s hardest-to-reach areas.
