For the whole Law is summed up in one commandment: “Love your neighbor as you love yourself.”
Galatians 5:14 GNT
In this fourth episode of the Letters from Paul series from American Bible Society, you’ll explore Galatians 5:13-23.
Paul was writing to the churches of Galatia, which were in modern-day Turkey. As he encouraged these churches to stay strong in their faith, Paul wrote about the tension between our old human nature and our new nature in Jesus Christ.
Paul reminds the Galatians—and us—that Christians are called to set our old desires aside. The evidence of our new life in Christ can be seen in the work of the Holy Spirit, who produces fruit like love, kindness, humility, and joy in our hearts. By focusing on this new nature and asking God to help us grow, we find true freedom in Christ.
Watch and be inspired by Paul’s reflection on true freedom.
