For Martina, the death of her husband marked the beginning of the worst days of her life.

“My husband was the only earning person in the family,” says Martina, who lives in Bangladesh. Once he died, Martina and her two children found themselves facing a financial crisis. On top of that, they were left heartbroken at the loss of their husband and father. “I was mentally shocked due to losing my husband,” Martina remembers. Even today, Martina feels ill when she thinks back to those days of sorrow and fear.

Martina’s children did all they could to find jobs to support the family. But Martina still couldn’t escape the deep anguish and grief that troubled her heart. She heard about a Bible-based Trauma Healing group hosted at her church and decided to go.

That’s when everything changed.

Through her Trauma Healing small group, Martina learned about God’s love, forgiveness, and care demonstrated in Scripture. In this small group led by a trained facilitator, Martina had the opportunity to share with other hurting people about the heavy burden of grief she felt after her husband’s death. She learned about the Bible’s invitation to bring her pain to the cross of Jesus Christ. She was able to experience the peace of God by deeply engaging with Scripture. “I was very happy to hear the words of God,” Martina says. And finally, by exploring God’s Word with others, she experienced long-awaited relief from her suffering.

“All the wounds in my heart were healed,” she rejoices. “I have come to know that God is the only source of peace.”

To her fellow believers who cared about her enough to offer this life-changing ministry, Martina has only one thing to say: thank you “for inspiring me and giving me a new life of faith in God.”
