John*, a wounded Veteran, recently sent a thank you note to American Bible Society for Bible resources that “keep me going.”

John doesn’t share much about how he was wounded, only that he has been disabled for 32 years. He says the Bible resources provided by the support of American Bible Society’s financial partners are so valuable. “They have given me hope in my life.”

He goes on to reveal the references and teachings about God “certainly made my life more positive than the negative life I have had to deal with from a service-connected disability.”

John is not alone in his struggles. Military personnel returning home often experience physical or emotional trauma that impacts the rest of their lives. The 21.8 million Veterans who have sacrificed so much need God’s Word to help them deal with challenges they faced — such as long separations from families, guilt, grief, loss, and doubt.

Veterans are at high risk for suicide and post-traumatic stress disorder. That is why, with our financial partners’ support, American Bible Society sends the Word of God to help meet the critical spiritual needs of our nation’s Military — providing free, customized ministry programs and Scripture resources.

These resources give hope and provide tools to help Veterans and their families engage in God’s Word. Through our financial partners’ continued support, we’ll bring healing to more of our nation’s Veterans … so that more wounded heroes like John will find comfort and encouragement in God’s Word.
