In some parts of the world, possessing a Bible, sharing your Christian faith . . . or even being a Christian is strictly forbidden. For many years, that has been the case in Azerbaijan. But more recently, some of those restrictions have eased. Now, the support of our generous partners is making it possible to give Bibles and Scripture resources to children and adults in remote areas of Azerbaijan for the very first time.

By working with churches that travel to remote areas, the Bible society is able to distribute Christian literature, Bibles and New Testaments. Children can now read selected stories from the New Testament in either the Azerbaijiani or Russian language.

When we gave three older women copies of the New Testament, they were very happy to receive them. But when they saw that we also had children’s Bible story books, their eyes lit up. As grandmothers, they were eager to receive some of the children’s Bible stories so they could read to their grandchildren about Jesus.

Knowing the truth of Solomon’s words in Proverbs 22:6 (GNT), “Teach children how they should live, and they will remember it all their life,” you are helping ensure that children in this once-closed, Muslim-dominated country have access to stories about Jesus.

Thanks to our friends for helping to make this possible. Please continue to pray for believers in this country and for more people to come to Christ. Even though the government no longer prevents the distribution of Bibles and children’s Bible story books, threats from family members and the local community can still make life very difficult for believers there.
