Anastasia and her parents fled their home in Crimea three years ago, shortly before the war began. Friendless and scared, the 8-year-old had to start over at a new school while her parents were busy finding new jobs and a safe place to live.
Their story is not unique. Ukrainians are suffering deeply from the war that’s been going on since 2014. Thousands have been killed or injured, and more than 2 million Ukrainians—like Anastasia’s family—are now refugees.
Having experienced so much pain, injustice, and stress, displaced children like Anastasia desperately need Scripture to learn about God’s love. His Word is needed more than ever to help provide comfort and peace to these terrified children.
That’s why American Bible Society provided colorful children’s Bibles to families forced from their homes.
“Here, in displacement, our spiritual lives are being reborn,” said Anastasia’s father, Roman. “When I was a boy, my neighbor had a children’s Bible and I always wished to have one. Now, our dreams come true! Thank you for your care and for the Bible.”
Thanks to the generous support of American Bible Society financial partners, we are bringing the love of Jesus Christ to men, women, and children suffering in this devastated country.
