Carlos* and Maria* live in a small village in Peru. They cannot read, and they speak a dialect not used at the local church, so they struggle to understand and are embarrassed to ask for help. “When the pastor told us that God spoke and wrote in our language, we did not believe him,” Carlos shared with a smile.

Then, they were given an audio Bible, recorded in their own heart language. After listening, Carlos said, “Maria could not stop crying. I also think I cried.” Since the audio Bible is solar-powered, they often listen to it while sitting outside in the sunlight because, as Carlos says, “We do not want to stop a day of listening to God’s teaching for us.”

In another village, Sophia* uses her Gospel of Luke as well as an audio Bible to lead a women’s study. “The Bible Study tools in our language have helped us to strengthen our native identity and understand that God also speaks in Matsigenka. The audio Bible completes the presence of God among us.”

And in Lampa, Peru, 12-year-old Emilio* attends church with his friends. He hopes and prays that one day his parents will join him. Recently, he told them about the audio Bible and Scripture books in their native Quechua language. It made them curious. He says, “Now, they ask me what I have learned every Sunday.”

Through our partners commitment to sharing God’s Word, we are transforming lives around the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
