“I am more positive and understanding and a lot less selfish! There was a girl who came in my dorm and stole from me. I was mad at first but I read my Bible and let it go and (I) forgave her.” So said Lauren H. Estrella, an inmate at Intents Jail in Phoenix, Ariz., in response to the question, “What are some positive changes you've noticed in yourself since reading God's Word?”
Since American Bible Society partnered with the Joplin, Mo.-based American Rehabilitation ministries 10 years ago, more than half a million inmates have been equipped with a God Sets You Free™ Bible.
A survey of 2,555 inmates revealed that 51 percent of those receiving a Bible read it every day. As a result, some 89 percent wanted to make a positive change in their lives.
