Fernando* is Miskito, one of the largest indigenous people groups in Central America. At 23 years old, he was falling under the influence of friends and others who were taking drugs and making bad choices with their lives. But when Fernando was invited to attend a Bible listening group, the words he heard in his own language convicted him.
He surrendered his life to Jesus, and afterward, he was given a Miskito language Bible to help him grow in his faith. With excitement, he said, “It’s the first time I’ve received a Bible — and it’s in my language.”
Fernando spent time diligently reading God’s Word and soon realized his life was changing. “I have moved away from bad paths thanks to the Bible listening group,” he shares. “I feel happy because I better understand God’s message for my life.”
Now, Fernando has steady employment and attends church every week. “I know it is a long process,” he explains, “but God will give me the strength to overcome everything bad in my thinking and actions. I am going to read this Bible and learn more about God to teach my friends the path that leads to eternal life.”
